I would love an European superstate with one army, one tax system, one education system, etc. The non functional and partly corrupted 'national' governments are holding us back with their useless nationalistic thoughts and interests. How helpless would the UK be if, for example, Cornwall would be able to down vote every law that would be in the interest in the UK as a whole but not specifically for Cornwall? That's whats happening in the EU at this moment.
That's not how the EU works - you should do some research. The European Parliament cannot reject legislation from the European Commission - the can only send it back for amendments. Then the legislation is resubmitted.
People must have the right to elect their leaders
People must have the right to get rid of their leaders
Leaders must be accountable to the people.
It's called Democracy. I'll be the first to acknowledge that things don't always work as they should.
@Stixits
Can you point out to me when the elections were held for the members of the European Commission?
How about the EU President?
How can I get rid of them?
Who are they accountable to?
There is nothing Democratic about the EU - or the open contempt that the un-elected "Leaders" show to the citizens.
Just look at Mark Rutte. Totally out of touch.
I've already outlined that England has collapsed politically, monetarily, constitutionally and economically.
Are you sure Mark? Looks more like the situation in the EU to me.
I would also remind you that the Dutch people rejected the EU Constitution yet it was still introduced via the Lisbon Treaty.
Not sure what I should call the above but this does not resemble Democracy in any way.
I'm afraid your Utopian EU superstate is just not going to happen.
EU is finished - the quicker the better imho.
Interesting times ahead!
