In the current market everything is driven by panic IMHO. Just about every stock is down considerably.
From what I understand it's only going to get worse. If you really want to buy stocks at least wait until things bottom out - going to take a while IMHO.
@Pantryman
Thanks for the links. Plenty of people who figure we are going to have
deflation instead of hyperinflation - we'll see who's right.
I've seen it's quite obvious the Politicians don't have a clue what to do.
As for the so called "Experts" not too many got this right. Ignore. Enough said.
I think you're doing the right thing - you're building equity in your house. Paying off debt is a smart strategy given the current situation.
Example:-If your mortgage is like mine then there is a life insurance policy that matures at the end of the mortgage and pays off the principle in one go. The Insurance companies have of course invested this money. I'll bet the policy is worth considerably less now than 6 months ago. It's quite possible that when this policy matures it will not cover the entire mortgage.
One more reason to pay off the mortgage ASAP.
I'm not a financial expert - but some things come down to simple common sense. This seems to be largely missing these days.
I imagine my pension funds are exactlty the same - I don't think too many people have thought this through properly.....
Back to Aviation for 2009. Unfortunately I don't see much to be positive about. I think that if you have a job at the end of 2009 you should be grateful - it's going to get very ugly very fast.
Yes it's a Pilots Forum - isn't it nice to have an Adult level thread for a change?
