Please don't shoot yourself in the foot when it comes to the rules about jumpseat travel. It doesn't matter if we agree or disagree with the rules. What matters is that we all need the DH/Jumpseat travel for our "floating".
Here are the rules as per the memo from our chief pilot on crewdock:
1. Report to the boarding gate.
2. Identify yourself to the team leader / dispatcher.
3. Board after the last revenue passenger has boarded (unless instructed otherwise by
gate agent).
4. Identify yourself and confirm your status (Boarding Card or SNY) to the Cabin
Service Supervisor.
5. Identify yourself and confirm your status ( Boarding Card or SNY) to the
Captain
6. Only sit on a jumpseat of no seat in the cabin is available and only sit in the seats we should!
There is one rule that wasn't mentioned, it's actually common sense, but unfortunately many of us floaters don't do it.... if you can say "hello" to the cabin crew and flight crew and the begining of a flight - DON'T FORGET to say "Bye" at the end of the flight.... I'm not trying to teach anybody to suck eggs, but I hear captains say so often..... "Would have been nice if he/she would have said "good bye"...."
