Bombardier: 13,200 Bizjets Delivered in Next 10 Years
Bombardier Aerospace’s business aircraft market forecast, released last week, predicts that 1,320 business jets, ranging from light twinjets to corporate airliners, will be delivered annually over the next 10 years. According to the Canadian aircraft manufacturer, this is more than a twofold increase from the industry average of about 620 business jets delivered annually between 1998 and 2007. The estimated 13,200 deliveries between 2008 and 2017 represent billings of $300 billion. Despite expected slumps in the U.S. and world economies over the next two years, Bombardier believes business jet deliveries should keep increasing until 2017. In fact, the sustained buoyancy of the European jet market prompted Bombardier to revise its 10-year business jet delivery forecast upward from 9,950 last year to the current prediction of 13,200 airplanes. Bombardier also believes that primary market drivers will continue to be mostly positive, including large backlogs, a healthy pre-owned market, service entry of several new aircraft models over the next two years and stable fractional ownership demand. “With growing demand for business jets within its international base of customers–representing 67 percent of orders for 2007–Bombardier should be well positioned to weather a possible recession in the U.S.,” it concluded.
