Flying in China
Having flown a number of trips in Chinese Airspace over the past few weeks I can only say that they have a long way to go:-
ATC between "locals" is in Chinese (yes it's an official ICAO language). I have no idea who they are sending my way.
It's non RVSM airspace and they fly in metres. Next year they want to introduce RVSM but in metres - an accident waiting to happen in the transition areas between metres and feet.
Level of English is extremely poor and controllers are hard to understand.
Beijing is an extremely chaotic airport with long delays especially on departure. It's not quite in the same category as Delhi (which is in a league of its own ) but they're trying hard.
Hong Kong is very well organised - a pleasure to fly in and out of.
