Ik heb me tot nu toe afzijdig gehouden van deze discussie, maar ik ga me er nu toch mee bemoeien.
Welcome! Thanks for posting. I'd like to respond to some of what you are saying.
Agreed - but there is plenty of good information out there. The
Globaleconomicanalysis blog is one of the best sources on the Internet IMHO. I don't claim to be an expert but I do read and think about what people who do know what they're talking about have to say.
Google maar eens de 'self fulfilling prophecy'.
I hear this argument a lot. The fact is this has
already happened - the reality has not caught up with us yet.
Those people are you and me - this isn't something that will only effect others.
As for a timeline - what people cannot comprehend is that we are not going back to where we were. Everything is going to be turned upside down. We are heading for a radically different soceity. What form that takes remains to be seen. One thing I do guarantee - we will have to learn to do with a great deal less.
"Virtual money" represents approximately 95% of all money in circulation. With banks lending out at ratios of up to 50:1 (every 1 Euro deposited creates 50 virtual Euros of loans). It's not surprising to me that the banks are using the bailout money to shore up their balance sheets. Secondly who are they going to lend to? People/Companies/Countries already drowning in debt that they can't pay off? I don't think so.
Unfortunately that is exactly what it means.
I'll agree that this probably the next step. However I don't believe it will change anything. The unfortunate side-effect is that tax payers are now liable for all the losses. It's really quite simple to understand - replace the term "government" with "tax payer"
Weimar Republic - good lesson in how things can fall apart. There are certainly parallels to the events of today. You are already starting to see increased polarisation in Politics.
History is nothing more than people making the same mistakes over and over again.
@ Q-nimbus In post #116 I have posted a link to a video called "Money as Debt". It's 47 minutes long but the first half is well worth watching.
