Ik zie hier nu de discussie over of een visum wel of niet nodig is (ik weet dat ik een oud topic opgraaf): Ik zit nu in de Bay Area en heb een paar dagen per week vliegles vanaf Palo Alto. (Overdag zit ik hier gewoon op mijn werk, wat niks met vliegen te maken heeft.)

Zolang je minder dan 18 uur per week les hebt en vliegles niet je hoofddoel is, mag je dat allemaal gewoon op VWP doen. En "een paar dagen SF en daarna nog wat lessen" klinkt alosf het in dat straatje past.

Zit er ook over te denken om in de toekomst mijn night rating te gaan halen.


Maar lees op flightschoolcandidates.gov:

Category 3 Clarification - For flight training in the operation of aircraft with a maximum certificated takeoff weight of 12,500 lbs. or less, Candidates must obtain AFSP approval for the following three training events:

Initial airman's certificate, including a private, recreational, or sport pilot certificate.
-- If a private and/or commercial license is the candidate's initial FAA license, it is considered an initial airman's certificate and is not exempt.
Instrument Rating (IR)
Multi-Engine Rating (MEL)
Each of these three events requires a separate training request.

All other training events on aircraft with MTOW of 12,500 lbs. or less are exempt from AFSP regulations, including Commercial Pilot License (CPL), Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL), and Certified Flight Instructor (CFI). These events are exempt only if the candidate holds an FAA stand-alone pilot certificate.

Volgens mij is die laatste regel nieuw, en stond er eerst niet.
Betekend het dat je nu ook voor een JAA night rating de hele TSA molen door zou moeten?

Toevallig bij de west Valley Flying Club? Toffe lui daar. Ik heb evt nog n vriendje die woont in SFO die graag een keer mee zou willen omdat hij erover nadenkt om zijn FAA PPL te halen.
