Gentlemen,
Couple of days ago departing runway 11. One mile west of the threshold there is an active cell which produces gusty wind. Tower wind: variable 4 gusting 21.
We take-off (Airbus 320) runway 11 into the blue sky; however lots of gusts.
I am the pilot flying. After we are airborne captain tells me he called rotate 20 knots past the actual Vr because of the possible windshear.
It sounds like a reasonable thing to do, however this does affect the performance
calculations and I never seen this in any manual or heard from anybody.
