I just want to add some comments about kalitta air. I have worked for them for 4 years now and I have seen some darn good if not great work on these planes. The FAA visits us regularly to make sure we follow the Boeing 747 maint manuals and the pratt and whitney engine manuals. I am tired of reading that they should shut us down or ban Kalitta Air. Kalitta Air has been around for years. We are very strict on our maint. schedual, maybe better than some others. The BRU accident was pilot error most likely. The eng. drop was a leased eng. from another company that we got while on a leg of that aircraft and it had a bad weld on the aft eng. mount. The columbia acc. is unfortunate and soon everyone will know what happened. I wish people would get the facts before running off with their mouths!!! Kalitta Air has quite a number of 747's and i think we have a good track record for as much flying these birds do.
